The arborists from Oakwood Treecare and Consultancy employed abseiling and staged dismantling to remove this 30 metre tall Norfolk Island Pine.
Interestingly, Norfolk Island Pines are not protected trees on Waiheke. Located over subterranean water tanks, all of the branches of the pine had to be trimmed off before the trunk was cut into sections and lowered.
Taking the Oakwood truck and arborist equipment across to Waiheke on the car ferry was a nice change of scenery for the team, and the view from the top of this big tree was magnificent.
